CYPRESS HEMP

Back in February of 2019, Kristy Hébert, Co-Founder & Head of Sales at Cypress Hemp spoke with FTB Law and the Hemp roundtable and asked that they begin working on lobbying for Louisiana, because her company, Cypress Hemp,  had been lobbying diligently and working on the legislative environment in Louisiana since September 2018. Cypress Hemp created a 10 page research paper on hemp in Louisiana, and all the unique ways that Louisiana, in particular, could benefit from creating a hemp program. The research paper was forwarded around the entire state capitol, including the Governor, and was referenced at almost every single committee hearing and legal deliberation that occurred surrounding Louisiana hemp legislation.

Over the past 6 months Cypress Hill has been interviewed and featured in multiple Louisiana magazines, encouraging involvement and support of the legislation and the new industry. They made dozens of different calls to action on their social media platforms (@cypresshemp) and reached 100,000+ people with their posts calling for public action and public lobbying for hemp in Louisiana. Additionally, they have worked closely with the writer of the bill, Representative Clay Schexnayder since the very beginning of session, spending hours in person education him directly on the diverse uses and potential of hemp, as well as providing him with their crate of hemp education materials which was used to educate legislators for the past months along with their 10 page Louisiana Hemp research paper.

Additionally, the folks at Cypress Hill were directly invited to the bill signing by the man who wrote/sponsored the bill, and that Governor Edwards personally handed Ms. Hébert the pen that he used to sign the bill into law.
